Silent Room
South By Southwest, Austin, TX
A semi-permanent, but mobile art installation featured at SXSW (South By Southwest). I consulted with Dutch Artist, Simon Heijdens, and after hearing his vision, helped collaborate with him on the plan, design, and construction of the Silent Room on site. The structure was built using numerous Auralex Acoustics sound isolation materials to construct a “soundproof” chamber in a 40′ shipping container. The result of which was a self-enclosed “room” which lowered the ambient noise level by 55 dB as measured by University of Texas engineers. I also attended the show to help promote the installation, help set up and man our booth in the tradeshow exhibit hall, showcase products, and answer customer questions. Since SXSW, Silent Room has also been on display in Washington D.C., The Netherlands, and Thailand.
